Price comparison: What will €600k get me in Co Wicklow?

From a three-bed bungalow in Aughrim to a four-bed in Brittas Bay.

GETTING YOUR HEAD around the fast-changing property market can be difficult, so that’s why we’re here to make things a little easier.

Each week, we cherry pick a number of homes within a similar budget, to give you the best idea of the property landscape at a particular price point.

This week, we’re looking at properties in Co Wicklow, which will leave you change from €600,000, including a three-bed in Aughrim and a four-bed in Brittas Bay. 

Three-bed detached, Wicklow town – €425,000

13 Glendasan Drive in Wicklow town has been upgraded by the current owners to create more of a flow to the ground floor, namely with an open plan layout that’s well zoned and modern. The ground floor comprises a bedroom to the left of the hall and a large living area that leads to the kitchen and dining area on the right. A large bathroom and a utility room complete the space. Upstairs sit two large bedrooms, one of which has an en suite bathroom. The overall floor area of this bright home is 98 m².

From the kitchen are doors to the back garden which is low maintenance and has a roomy garden room and decking to make a nice outdoor area for entertaining during the summer. A walk away from the town, schools, shops and the seafront are all close by, making this a nice base for a family who doesn’t want to hop in the car too often.

Three-bed detached, Aughrim – €425,000

A spacious 181 m² in size, Hillcrest is a bungalow that has had the attic converted to create two more rooms. The house has panoramic views of the countryside and is located in a quiet rural area of Wicklow for those who prefer a change of pace. To the side is a detached two storey garage. Aughrim Village is easy to get to, while train stations at Rathdrum and Arklow, with connections to Dublin, are about 15km away.

Inside, there are three double bedrooms along with an open plan kitchen that leads to a big and bright sunroom and doors to the outside. A separate utility room, dining room, a family room and a living room make up this large family home. The bedrooms share the large bathroom.

Four-bed semi-detached, Wicklow town – €545,000

5 Avonvale Court is a 165 m² home with four bathrooms as well as four bedrooms. Having been fully renovated and extended recently, it’s modern and bright with a layout that joins the lounge to the kitchen and dining area while remaining separate. There’s also a guest WC on this floor along with double doors that lead to the side patio and the back garden. On the first floor, you’ll find the newly revamped family bathroom and four double bedrooms that all have fitted wardrobes. For anyone working from home, the converted attic would make for a great office.

Avonvale Court is a collection of six semi-detached homes about a kilometre away from Wicklow town’s main street, while the M11 is less than a five minute drive away.

Four-bed detached, Brittas Bay – €595,000

It also has a separate utility room, guest WC, and four double bedrooms, two of which have en suite bathrooms. 

Outside, there’s plenty of garden to tend to along with a double garage, as well as lots of space for parking in the driveway. In terms of location, Brittas Bay is about a 15 minute drive away from Wicklow town.
