7 Ailesbury Road

Starting our search for homes in Ballsbridge is the magnificent 7 Ailesbury Road. This five-bed, 473 m² home is located on one of the most sought-after roads in the country. Ailesbury Road is famously featured in the Irish version of Monopoly, and 7 Ailesbury Road perfectly illustrates why that’s the case.

The gorgeous period home contains two storeys over a basement and was refurbished and extended, giving you plenty of room. Inside the house, high ceilings really give you space to breathe and enjoy each room. The previously formal reception room has been reimagined as a combination study and family room with wall panelling and floor to ceiling cabinetry and a gas fire in the original fireplace. To the rear, you’ll find a kitchen with custom cabinetry, dark granite worktops and an Aga. This steps down into the double height dining room, which is a lovely space for entertaining.

The upper levels of the house are home to several bedrooms, including a large suite with bathroom and built-in wardrobes and desk. On the second floor, you’ll find two more large double bedrooms, one front and one rear, again with built-in wardrobes and desks. Lastly, the main bedroom rounds out the second floor. This room oozes elegance, with walnut wall finishings disguising doors on both sides of the bed, leading into a spacious dressing room. Completing the main bedroom is an ensuite bathroom with steam shower, enclosed WC and large vanity unit with double sink.

At the back of the home is a south-facing private garden with plenty of seating space. There’s also a BBQ, perfect for entertaining on warm sunny evenings. There’s also a gorgeous natural infinity swimming pool complete with a biological filter, plant life and pump.

This exclusive home is brought to the market by Bergins Property Consultants with an asking price of €12,000,000.

109 Anglesea Road

Next up on our list of exclusive homes in Ballsbridge, we’re heading to Anglesea Road. Number 109 is a four-bed family home that measures a spacious 282 m².

A classic period home entrance, with an ornate door knocker and a long reception hall, the devil is in the detail here. Enjoy the ornate coving and smooth wooden floors that guide you from the hallway into the heart of the home. The elegance continues into the main reception rooms, which still boast their marble fireplaces intact. Period style meets contemporary in these rooms, offering an interesting and unique blend of old and new. Enjoy the contrast of the classical chandelier with more modern shapes in the furniture.

The kitchen/dining room is a welcoming and relaxing space, complete with a reading nook to the side. An island on the kitchen side is the perfect spot to enjoy a mid-morning coffee, with an Aga installed for those who love to cook. The adjacent family room features a gas stove fireplace, with pre-fitted floating LED lighting for those who desire integrated shelving. A garden room with three Velux roof lights then leads out to the garden.

The four bedrooms all continue the blend of contemporary and period, featuring original window shutters and ceiling cornice. Upstairs, you’ll also find a luxuriously appointed family bathroom executed by Waterloo Bathrooms, featuring Spanish mosaic detailing and top-of-the-line sanitary ware and accessories from Samuel Heath. Enjoy excellent water pressure in the shower, thanks to a new electric power pump.

109 Anglesea Road is on sale through Sherry FitzGerald, with an asking price of €2,500,000.

127 Anglesea Road

Continuing on Anglesea Road, Number 127 is the next exclusive home we’ll view. This boasts a slightly larger floor space of 311 m² and four bedrooms.

This terraced home epitomises the grace found within a period home, with the entrance hall containing ornate ceiling cornice, an arch and a feature marble floor. Wide plane timber floors are a stunning feature throughout the hall floor and garden level too. Light fills the space across the home, which was recently refurbished and extended.

A fully fitted kitchen with a large island and breakfast counter is located beside a gorgeous open plan off it, with a lovely light-filled dining area. At the front of the garden level is a lovely TV/Family room. Off the hall, which has a separate entrance from the front garden, is a shower room. There is extensive wall-to-wall storage running the length of the hall.

On the 1st floor return is a bedroom and shower room, with the remaining three bedrooms, including the main bedroom with its shower room ensuite, found on the first floor. At the top of the house is a cleverly designed bathroom, bringing the total number of bathrooms to five.

There is a good-sized railed front garden and a lovely low maintenance west-facing back garden which overlooks the Dodder with the tennis courts of Bective Tennis Club also visible at the rear. The rear is also low maintenance and comes with raised planter beds. You’ll also find a series of paved and raised timber patio areas, which are ideally suited to al fresco dining.

This home is available to buy through Sherry FitzGerald with an asking price of €2,600,000.

2 Sydenham Road

Last up on our look through Ballsbridge dream homes is 2 Sydenham Road. This six-bed, six-bath is located in a quiet cul-de-sac in the heart of Ballsbridge. Its location means an easy stroll into Dublin city centre, proximity to great public transport links and a wide range of amenities in the area.

This home is an Edwardian red brick property dating from the 1900′s and still consists of a number of unique period features. The glazed lead panelled front door, ceiling coving in the long hallway as well as a feature centre rose and marble fireplaces are all examples of period style. The entrance hallway leads to two interconnecting reception rooms, overlooking the front and rear gardens respectively. This space has the option to be reconfigured to an open plan area, or to be kept as it is, with its high ceilings and elegant furniture.

Upstairs, you’ll find a total of six very generous bedrooms, each of which has a modern en suite shower room, with an additional home office/nursery. The bedrooms are spread across three levels, allowing everyone to have their own space. There is also a family bathroom and hot press/utility area, which could be tanked to create a modern laundry room.

At the back of the property, there is a very private, easily maintained garden with off-street parking for two cars. In the garden, you’ll find a one-bedroom studio offering additional accommodation or the potential to further extend the existing garden. The garden itself is a lovely space, where you can easily picture yourself enjoying some outdoor drinks or dinner.
