Avondale

We’ll start by checking out Avondale on Avoca Avenue, Blackrock. This home is spread over  558 m² of floor area, with five bedrooms and an astonishing seven bathrooms.

Avondale is a timeless example of a refurbishment executed well. It marries old romantic charm with contemporary style. Upon entering, there is a seamless flow through the five gorgeous reception rooms into a beautiful bespoke SieMatic kitchen/breakfast room by Houseworks that is the home’s heart. It overlooks the rear garden, letting sunlight and nature seep into the home uninterrupted. The retained period features include the stained glass entrance doors, the hanging chandeliers and the original fireplaces, which combine well with more modern conveniences. The house is also perfectly situated on a highly sought-after road in south county Dublin, close to a wide range of amenities.

Four of the bedrooms are en-suite, including the main. Each is large and bright, with plenty of space for storage. The home basks in natural sunlight, thanks to a southerly orientation. To the rear, enjoy private gardens with manicured lawns. The garden is tastefully decorated with several statues that continue the luxurious motifs present within the house, and several sun loungers to soak up the best of the sunlight.

On sale through Lisney Sotheby’s, Avondale has an asking price of €5,950,000.

Aranmore

Staying on Avoca Avenue, our next home in Blackrock is Aranmore. This detached residence has curb appeal in abundance.

The Victorian home underwent a comprehensive extension and renovation programme in 2008. It saw classic features retained and enhanced by more modern aspects. Enter via a flight of granite steps leading to a beautiful sheltered and columned portico front porch. The entrance hallway boasts two reception rooms on either side, complete with original aspects such as chimney pieces and shuttered sliding sash windows that overlook the grounds. On this level, you’ll also find a formal dining room with direct access to the rear garden and a large kitchen breakfast room again overlooking the stunning rear gardens.

The 2008 renovation saw an extension added to the home, which is currently home to a gym/office, a utility room and a large living room. Overall, you’ll find five large double bedrooms in the house, including a massive main bedroom suite with a large walk-in wardrobe and ensuite. Heading outside, there is excellent off-street car parking for numerous cars to the front, protected behind electric security gates. Privacy is provided in the garden by granite walls and extensive use of box hedging and raised granite beds. A number of sheltered patio areas at the back are perfect for relaxing in the sun or dining al fresco.

Aranmore has an asking price of €4,750,000 and is on sale through Lisney Sotheby’s.

Windsor Lodge

Built in 1850, our next home contains a lot of history. Windsor Lodge is a beautiful period home, with a gorgeous facade.

They’ll also enjoy living in this light-filled, well-appointed accommodation which extends to approximately 340 m². The country style kitchen/breakfast room, complete with timber painted units and gas coal effect stove, makes for the ideal hosting space, overlooking the garden to the rear.

The garden is a particular highlight of the home, which has been carefully maintained by the current homeowner. Boasting an enviable west-facing orientation to the rear with scope for an extension on either side of the property (subject to planning permission) should there be a need to expand. Another impressive element of the house is the stunning sea vista over Dublin Bay at Seapoint from the main bedroom. The seafront itself is just a short stroll away from the front door of the property.
