4 of a kind: Homes with remote working spaces, from studio to penthouse

We go around the country to bring you a selection of properties offering space to spread out from your desk.

FOR MANY PEOPLE around Ireland, the last year has brought a major reassessment of the way we live in our homes – and how we use them.

Space to work from home, whether in a separate study or simply an office pod in an existing room, has become more of a priority than ever before.

This week, we’re looking at four homes around the country offering enough room to work as well as live.

Penthouse, Stepaside, Dublin 18 – €425,000

With views across Dublin Bay and towards Killiney Hill, this two-bedroom penthouse apartment is bright and spacious. It is located at the top of the Stepaside Park development, surrounded by landscaped grounds. Complete with two balconies – one accessed from the living space, one from the second bedroom – the accommodation itself is centred around a living and dining area, with a separate kitchen and breakfast room.

The master bedroom comes with a walk-in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom, and a dedicated home office offers a comfortable and private space for home working.

Detached home on two acres, Ballydehob, West Cork – €470,000

Less than three kilometres from Ballydehob village in West Cork, Galewood House is a substantial detached home on 2.2 acres of land, with gardens landscaped in lawn and mature shrubs. A large home offering almost 2,900 square feet of space in total, the property sits on an elevated site looking over the West Cork countryside. But it is the home working facilities that really stand out – a detached studio running to 690 square feet, currently in use as a gym, with additional floored loft space.

The main house is laid out with a number of generous reception rooms on the ground floor, around a high-spec kitchen. On the first floor are four bedrooms, all of them en-suite.

Currently, a bedroom on the ground floor is in use as a bright home office looking out to the street.

The remainder of the ground floor is laid out around a large kitchen and dining space, which has double doors through to a sitting room and also opens to the south-east-facing rear garden. Upstairs are the three remaining bedrooms, one of which is en-suite, with a spacious attic conversion above them.
