ENERGY EFFICIENCY IS on everyone’s minds these days. From small changes like using a reusable coffee cup, to larger-scale changes like opting for solar panelling in your home.
This week, we’re featuring four properties that all get A ratings for energy, which means you’ll use less energy to heat your home, and you’ll spend less money to heat it as well. It’s a win-win, and becoming more common – and more desirable.
From north county Dublin to county Westmeath, here are four energy superstars.
A-energy ratings are usually easiest to come by in new homes, and that’s the case in this four-bedroom, four-bathroom detached home, one of two remaining in the new An Pairc Wotton estate. The kitchen has custom shaker-style cabinetry, and high-end appliances, and the master bedroom is en suite with a walk-in wardrobe.
The home has a Thermia air-to-water renewable energy system for electricity and hot water, a low energy heat recovery system, which improves indoor air quality, and superior levels of insulation in the walls, floors and roof.

Meanwhile, in Dublin, you’ll find a three-bedroom, two-bathroom semi-detached home with an A3 energy rating in the desirable neighbourhood of Castleknock. Just a quick drive from the Phoenix Park and Dublin Zoo, the house is well located for commuters, but homeowners will enjoy the community feel.

Finally, in St. David’s court in Artane, you’ll find a five-bedroom, four-bathroom semi-detached house with an A3 energy rating and a westerly-facing garden. You’ll enjoy lots of sunshine in the back garden, and even on dull days, the skylights in the kitchen will keep it reasonably bright.
The living area is spacious with a large built-in bookcase and television unit, and the bedrooms are set across the first and second floor. The house is located in a quiet neighbourhood with access to bus lines and the Dart into the city centre.
