Lets have less stories on the accidents themselves and more on the causes of the accidents. And I don’t mean cold statistics either.

How about revisiting accidents from months back and giving out the results of the accident investigation? No need to give specifics as regards who was in what accidents but explain why they happened – was a driver holding their phone, wearing no seat-belt, did the car have brake failure, or did the traffic lights have an issue or what?
So the readers see a connection between their behavior and accidents.

Great idea but it would involve some actual journalism which this website lacks, its mostly just a copy and paste job

And let’s stop calling them “accidents” until the investigation is carried out. Dangerous driving is not carried out accidentally.

This is for you red thumbs. I’m sure if it was one of your own family was killed by a dangerous driver you would accept “a sure it was only an accident”. http://www.youthforroadsafety.org/news-blog/news-blog-item/t/95_of_all_crashes_are_human_errors_not_accidents_northern_ireland

    Shawn

I’ve been banging on about this for ages, accident has been removed from the lexicon of all agencies involved in these things. Some people don’t understand that accident is the wrong word, they keep saying “sure you’d not crash on purpose”, totally missing the point. Glad I’m not the only one banging this drum.

I agree totally with you Andrea it surprises me that there are not more accidents at the spot. Traffic lights are a must before there are fatal accidents.
