The body of a woman, 40, who lived alone at the house was discovered last night.

ONE WOMAN HAS been found dead following a fire at her home at Dunmore Lane, Falcarragh on the north-western coast of Co Donegal.

The body of the woman, 40, was discovered in the hallway of the house at around 9.30pm last night. It is understood that she lived alone at the property.

Gardaí say that there is some evidence of a fire in the living room which had extinguished itself at some point before the body was discovered.

A post-mortem is expected to be carried out tomorrow.

Gardaí are preserving the scene for a technical examination and say that at this stage of their investigation, they believe the incident was a tragic accident.
