HSE chief welcomes plan for state agency on child welfare

THE HSE CHIEF responsible for the welfare and protection of children has welcomed government plans to create a new standalone agency to oversee child protection – and believes it will be set up soon as a matter of government priority. Gordon Jeyes, the HSE’s national director for children and families, told RTÉ he also expected that all children in care would have access to social workers before the end of the year.
