Human head found in Hollywood Hills

Police are searching for the rest of a body after two women discovered a head while out walking yesterday.

A MAN’S HEAD has been found near the famous Hollywood sign by two people out walking dogs yesterday.

Police said that the women were walking several dogs when they noticed the animals were playing with a plastic bag.

Sgt Mitzi Fierro told ABC’s KABC-TV that an object fell out of the bag and the women realised it was a head. He said that it appeared to have been severed recently and that police would use dental records in their efforts to identify the victim.

Reuters reports that the discovery sparked a wider search of the area for a body after the head was found by a trail near the Griffith Observatory, but that none was located by nightfall.

Griffith Park is popular with tourists and locals and is known for its hiking and equestrian trails.
