Iceland announces creation of over 200 new jobs

The company has committed a further investment of €3 million into the retail chain in Ireland, with the opening of several new store across the country.

MORE THAN 200 new jobs are to be created in across the country by the Iceland supermarket chain.

The company will announce the creation of over 200 new jobs, and a further investment of €3 million into the retail chain in Ireland, at the opening of Iceland’s new 8,000 sq ft Coolock store in Greencastle Parade at 10am this morning.

Iceland, which is owned the AIM Group, is due to open four stores across the country at key locations in Dublin, Tipperary, Meath and Carlow throughout the month of November. More store are expected to open in the first quarter 2012.

Commenting on the announcement, Chief Executive, Tom Keogh said: “Today, we are thrilled to be in a position to open our newest store in Coolock… Today’s announcement will see us commit to €3 million in terms of store leases, fit outs and the creation of over 200 jobs. These jobs have been created directly from the immediate area where each store is located”.

The remaining jobs have been created at Iceland’s new distribution centre and operation’s base, situated in Greenogue Business Park in Rathcoole, Co Dublin.

Coolock – Greencastle Parade: Thursday, 3 November

Clonmel – Showground’s Shopping Centre: 10 November

Ashbourne – Unit 26A, Town Centre: 17 Novemember

Carlow – Tullow road: 24 November
