IMF approves €22.5bn assistance to Ireland

The IMF had delayed the approval to allow for the Dáil vote.

THE INTERNATIONAL MONETARY Fund has approved its €22.5bn contribution to the financial assistance programme for Ireland.

The board of the IMF met in Washington today and approved the bailout, RTÉ reports.

The IMF’s decision is a formality, which was originally due to be passed last week. However, it was postponed to allow for a parliamentary debate and Dáil vote.
