ANTI-IMMIGRANT GRAFFITI has appeared in the Garden of Remembrance.

It has been sprayed onto temporary boarding located near to the Children of Lir statue in the grounds.

Daubed in pink paint onto the wall,  it carries anti-immigrant messages that refers to the 1916 Rising.

It is thought that Dublin City Council has attended the scene and in the process of removing it.

The graffiti is similar to that which appeared in the Newlands Cross area of Dublin in January of this year.

Speaking to TheJournal.ie at the time, CEO of the Immigrant Council of Ireland (ICI), Denise Charlton, said that the graffiti had been applied by “a narrow minded individual or small group”.

Last month a family in Clondalkin were made to leave their home after it was defaced with racist graffiti.

The ICI had 217 incidents of racism reported to it in 2014.
