In protest: Anglo Not Our Debt and Donegal Action Against Austerity take to Dublin streets

Two protest groups have taken to the streets of Dublin today, demonstrating against austerity.

THE ANGLO NOT our Debt Campaign have organised a protest outside the Department of Finance today, describing yesterday’s promissory note deal as a “political stroke”.

They say the deferral of the €3.06 billion payment does not deal with the real issue, adding that it squanders an opportunity to write down what it calls illegitimate debt.

Meanwhile, walkers from the Donegal Action Against Austerity group have arrived in Dublin. They took off from Malin Head in Donegal on 9 March to protest against the Government’s austerity measures. They are now en route to Phoenix Park and will finish up at the National Convention Centre for the Fine Gael Ard Fheis tomorrow.
