65% of Irish people said they use the internet every day.

NEWLY RELEASED FIGURES from the European Commission show one in six Irish people have never used the internet.

A report found internet usage among the EU population has become widespread and people are also using it more often. Almost two-thirds of people in the EU aged 16 to 74 are using the internet daily. In 2014, the number of people who never used the internet dropped from 43% to 18%.

Here, 16% of people have never used the internet. This is a significant change from the staggering 42% in 2006 who said they had never used it.

65% of people in Ireland use the internet every day, which is the same as the European average.

Cloud services are popular among EU internet users, the report also found, with 21% using internet storage space for saving files.
