Investigations into council worker's death launched

The 47-year-old Cork County Council employee died yesterday afternoon after being struck in the head while working.

TWO INVESTIGATIONS ARE underway into the circumstances leading to the death of a council worker in Cork yesterday.

The 47-year-old Cork County Council employee was seriously injured yesterday afternoon after being struck in the head by a pole or beam while he worked close to the reservoir at Carr’s Hill, near the city.

He passed away in Cork University Hospital last night, RTÉ reports.

Both Cork County Council and the Health and Safety Authority have launched inquiries into the incident.

Cork County Council has expressed its sympathy to the man’s wife and family.
