iPhone 5 slated for 4 October launch - reports

Fresh reports indicate the iPhone 5 will be in shops next month.

NEW REPORTS INDICATE that the next version of Apple’s hugely successful iPhone will be unveiled on 4 October, less than a fortnight away.

Writing on All Things Digitial, John Paczkowski reports that the company is expected to hold its next big media day on that date with the iPhone 5 to be revealed.

The Wall Street Journal has also picked up on the story which suggests that the phone will then go on sale a few weeks after that launch date which tallies with recent reports indicating that the product would be in stores on 21 October.

The importance of the launch to Apple fans is heightened by the fact it will be the company’s first major product unveiling since the departure of chief executive Steve Jobs in August.

Newly-installed chief Tim Cook is certain the preside over this latest launch, All Things Digital adds.

Whilst details on what the iPhone 5 will look like and feature have been sketchy there have been plenty of rumours with most pointing towards a faster processor and an improved camera resolution.
