DREAMING OF TROPICAL waters and cocktails on white-sand beaches? Next year that fantasy will be a bit easier to realise.

From summer 2016, tour operators Falcon Holidays and Thomson will be running direct charter flights from Dublin Airport to Cancun in Mexico and Jamaica’s Montego Bay.

The weekly flights will run for six weeks from mid-June using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Thomson Airways, which is owned by the TUI Group.

While the tour operator won’t unveil its full programme and pricing until next month, the flights will be sold as a standalone option in addition to the company’s package deals.

It will take to 20 the number of long-haul destinations available from Dublin Airport next summer, including 17 in the Americas and Caribbean.

Chris Logan, Falcon Holidays and Thomson’s head for Ireland, said the company was excited to be the first local tour operator to offer direct flights to the two destinations.

We believe that the range of exclusive holidays we will be offering coupled with this state-of-the-art jet will be well received by Irish holiday makers,” he said.

This year Dublin Airport added another 21 routes, including four transatlantic flights and two to Africa.
