Poll: Is Ireland doing enough for the migrant crisis?

Reports have emerged this morning that as many as 200 people have died in the Mediterranean

SPEAKING YESTERDAY GERMAN Chancellor Angela Merkel named Ireland as one of three countries not doing enough to tackle the migrant crisis.

At a conference of European leaders in Austria, the German leader singled out Denmark, Ireland and Britain as places that were not doing enough relative to their wealth.

These three countries have opt-out clauses when it comes to housing migrants. Ireland has committed to taking in 600 Syrian and Eritrean refugees over the next two years.

Reports are emerging this morning of another major drowning incident in the Mediterranean with as many as 200 victims.

The LÉ Niamh is currently operating in the Mediterranean and has rescued almost 2,500 individuals over the past few months.

We want to know, do you think Ireland could do more to tackle the migrant crisis?

Poll Results:

No, we don't have the resources (6691)
Yes, drastic action is needed (3851)
Not sure (757)
