Sick of the rain? Well, we're in for more of it

But there is a silver lining – the weekend should be a little better.

WE’RE IN FOR more miserable weather today, with more rain and strong winds around the country.

Met Éireann has issued a series of warnings and said there could be spot flooding in some areas.

Wet and windy conditions this morning will be interspersed with brighter spells, but then followed by thundery showers moving in from the west, forecasters say.

There will be gale force winds especially in the south of the country, and we can look forward to more showers overnight.

This satellite image from Met Éireann shows why we won’t be seeing the sun for a while:

A general weather warning is in effect as well as gale and small craft warnings. Met Éireann has also issued a ‘blight warning’, which it says relates to “conditions favouring the spread of potato blight”.

However, tomorrow and Sunday should be dryer with even the possibility of some sunshine. Roll on the weekend.
