LEADING IRISH ENTREPRENEURS will soon meet in London for the second Annual Global Conference to discuss ways to boost exports for domestic and international Irish-owned companies.
The Irish International Business Network (IIBN) says the event – Business Beyond Borders – will bring together leading Irish innovators currently operating from the USA, Ireland, UK and Europe and create a platform for companies to grow overseas.
Despite recent economic uncertainty, Ireland’s exports have continued to perform strongly. According to recent data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), August saw record monthly high of €9 billion – demonstrating an 18 per cent increase on the previous year.
The IIBN say that by supporting indigenous Irish businesses and developing greater relationships between first, second and third generation Irish individuals, it aims to build upon this success and ensure continued growth.
Since its launch in 2007, the IIBN has opened chapters in Dublin, London, Belfast and New York with a combined membership of more than 2,000.
This year, the event will include an ‘entrepreneurs zone’, where business owners can exhibit their business for free and raise their profile. Jonathan Grey, Managing Director of Ovation Incentives and spokesperson for the IIBN, said the zone would also offer emerging Irish companies a 2-minute pitch to conference delegates.
The ‘Business Beyond Borders’ conference will also feature guest speakers including Willie Walsh, CEO of International Airlines Group; Niall Quinn, former international Irish footballer and honorary MBE; Ricky Simms, agent for Usain Bolt and founder of Pace Sports Management; and John McKeon, serial entrepreneur and founder of Circle Oil. Speakers will provide a insight into expanding into new territories and operating on the global stage.
Terry Clune, founder of Taxback.com and the brains behind Succeed In Ireland, the new financial incentive for ex-Pats to attract investment in to Ireland, will also be speaking at the event.
