Poll: Do you support the decision to send the Irish Defence Forces back to the Mediterranean?

L.É Róisin is expected to be dispatched within the next month.

IRISH SHIPS IN the Mediterranean rescued almost 9,000 migrants last year.

Three Irish naval vessels were deployed to the Mediterranean as migrants crossing the sea in dinghies from countries like Turkey and Libya became a daily occurrence.

The last ship that was out returned in December and no Irish vessels have been deployed since but the return of a vessel was approved this month.

Minister for Defence Simon Coveney said, “It is anticipated that L.É Róisin will be dispatched within the next month” adding that subject to requirements there will be two other vessels sent out with each deployment lasting around 12 weeks.

So today we’re asking, do you support the decision to send the Irish Defence Forces back to the Mediterranean?
