Irish Independent writer named as special government advisor

NEW EDUCATION MINISTER Ruairí Quinn has named John Walshe, the education editor of the Irish Independent, as his new special adviser. Walshe, who also previously wrote for the Irish Times, is a former consultant to the OECD, and his masters thesis became the basis of a policy document published by the Institute of Public Administration. The role carries an annual salary of around €85,000.
