Irish man arrested after kicking Australian politician...while he was being filmed

AN AUSTRALIAN POLITICIAN was talking on camera about escalating, alcohol-fuelled violence in the Northern Territory of Australia when he was kicked from behind by a 28-year-old who had just left a nearby pub.

ABC reports that the Irish national has now been charged over the alleged assault. He was released on bail and is due to face court in September.

John Elferink was holding the press conference about the growing issue of alcoh0l-fuelled crime after a savage attack over the weekend left an 18-year-old in critical condition in hospital.

Another man, also 28, has been arrested in relation to that incident. He will make his first court appearance tomorrow morning.
