THE FAMILY OF a 25-year-old man missing in Scotland since last Monday have appealed to the public to help them in their search.

Barry Doherty was last seen in the Scottish town of Paisley on 15 July by his father, who has since reported him missing.

He is described as being 6′ 1″ tall with blue eyes and brown hair. He speaks with a Donegal accent. When last seen he was wearing trainers, navy shorts and a light blue shirt.

His sister Cathie, who has travelled to Scotland to liaise with police, told TheJournal.ie that Barry’s 25th birthday fell on Thursday but no family member or friend heard from him.

“We’re in a weird limbo at the moment,” she said, “where no news is good news. But those little fears are starting to creep in.”

She plans to distribute fliers, leaflets and stickers around the town today, while police have widened their search to Liverpool, where Barry has lived in the past.

Originally from Donegal, Barry has worked seasonally across Scotland and England since he was 18 years old and has friends in Liverpool and Glasgow.

He had been on holidays in Ireland until last week. Police believe he has not left the UK, however, as his passport has been found and ferry terminals checked.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0044 141 532 6180.
