Young Irish man dies in New Zealand road crash

Martin Cadden was on a working visa in the country since 2013.

A YOUNG IRISH man died in a road crash in New Zealand on Friday.

The 22-year-old has been named as Martin Cadden – originally from Cavan.

It happened on Friday night at 11:20 pm local time.

The New Zealand Herald reports that he lost control of his car and hit a tree on Lake Road at Leeston, near Lake Ellesmere, Canterbury.

Mr Cadden was in New Zealand on a working visa since 2013.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said that consular assistance had not been requested.
