Irish man shot dead in Nigeria ambush

The engineer in his forties was working for an Irish company in the south east of Nigeria.

AN IRISH MAN in his forties has been shot dead in the south east of Nigeria.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to the man’s family. It’s believed he was working as an engineer with an Irish company on road building projects.

The Irish Times has named the man as Robert Gray, who was 45 and from Westport in Mayo. He was married with two daughters in their early teens.

He was killed when he and his driver were ambushed.
