Irish filmmaker Simon Fitzmaurice has died aged 43

The funeral mass for Fitzmaurice will take place in Greystones tomorrow afternoon.

IRISH FILMMAKER SIMON Fitzmaurice has died aged 43.

The well-known film director was diagnosed with motor neuron disease in 2008.

He wrote a book It’s Not Yet Dark which described his life with the disease. It was adapted into a film and selected for the prestigious Sundance Film Festival this year.

He is survived by his wife Ruth and their five children Jack, Raife, Arden, Sadie and Hunter.
