8 Irish universities feature in the top 200 spots in world university rankings

The table shows that Irish universities feature strongly in English and languages.

EIGHT IRISH UNIVERSITIES have featured in the top 200 QS World University Subject Rankings.

The top English department in Ireland goes to Trinity College Dublin with a rank of 28, while University College Dublin has the second best with a score in the top 100.

Trinity also made the top 50 in three other subjects, including history and archaeology; modern languages and politics and featured strongly in the top 100 spots.

University College Dublin had nine subjects in the top 100 spots: Accounting, agriculture and forestry, biological sciences, economics and econometrics, English language and literature, geography, modern languages, history and archaeology and politics.

University College Cork featured in the top 100 for their biological sciences, law and legal studies and modern languages courses.

Other Irish colleges that also featured include: National University of Ireland Galway, Dublin City University, Dublin Institute of Technology and University of Limerick  and National University of Ireland Maynooth.

Now in its third year, the rankings series reveals the top 200 universities in the world for 30 individual subjects.
