Poll: Is it fair to cap migrants' benefits?

A proposal mooted today would allow it.

A PROPOSAL DUE to be discussed in Brussels today will suggest that EU member states be allowed cap benefits to migrants.

Britain wants to be allowed to deny EU citizens working in Britain access to welfare benefits for four years. RTÉ reports that the Irish government will ask for an exception for Irish citizens.

But the proposal would mean that the Irish government would be allowed do the same thing here, as would Sweden.

Would that be fair? If a person pays PRSI for less than four years, should they be allowed have access to unemployment welfare?

We’re asking: Is it fair to cap migrants’ benefits?

Poll Results:

Yes (12924)
No (2173)
I don't know (833)
