Bust out those piña coladas, it's almost summer time...

… but you’re more likely to get caught in the rain than be able to enjoy the feel of the ocean.

IT’S MAY, SO the summer is just about here.

But as you stepped out this morning wearing decked out in your finest summer gear, you might have noticed the weather doesn’t quite match the season – and outlook isn’t good.

Temperatures today are due to linger around the low-teens, and are unlikely to push much higher than 12 degrees.

This time last year it was a bit nicer, with Dublin Airport recording a top temperature of 14.2 degrees.

There’s an ominous band of rain due to move up through Munster this evening, with outbreaks of rain becoming more widespread through the day as it moves up the country, Met Éireann said.

Before the cloud engulfs us, there will be some sunny spells with moderate easterly winds.

The weekend is going to be nasty, to put it lightly. According to Met Éireann:

Tomorrow, Saturday, will be mostly overcast, with occasional rain, heavy at times, with a risk of thunder.

And the outlook?

The weather will remain very unsettled up to and including the middle of next week (at least).

At least! Ah lads.
