Japanese firm creates 115 jobs in Galway

Medical devices manufacturer with focus on cardiac care plans to expand Irish base over next five years

A JAPANESE MEDICAL DEVICES firm has announced it will create 115 jobs over the next five years, the PA reports.

Goodman Medical Ireland already has an operation in Mervue Business Park, Galway, at which it plans to invest €1.1m.

The new jobs will be in manufacturing, sales, marketing, and research and development, and it has already begun recruiting for manufacturing roles.

The company has employed workers in Ireland since 2004. Announcing the facility’s expansion, Minister Batt O’Keeffe said it would “bolster Ireland’s high-end manufacturing backbone and consolidate our reputation as a leading location in Europe for foreign direct investments”.

Goodman produces devices for cardiac healthcare such as stents.
