The jobs will be in areas such as business, technical analysis, quality assurance, and application support

A DUBLIN TECHNOLOGY firm has today announced it will created 150 new jobs in the capital.

Calypso Technology, which provides capital markets software solutions, plans to establish a Managed Services Centre in Dublin, with investment supported by the Department of Jobs Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.

150 jobs is obviously a great thing but it only ever seems as if its Dublin or Cork being invested in. Surely the IDA has to do more to ensure a more even spread, the brain drain from all other regions is already ridiculous.

Well, the company I work for, Avaya, announced 75 jobs for our Galway operation just 3 weeks ago with the support of the IDA, and we already have close to 500 mostly technical employees today after big expansion during the past 4 years.

There’s no infrastructure in the “other areas”. The majority of the population are clustered around population centres, so it makes senses to have the jobs where the people are.

@Martin do you think the government would be getting it in the ear if unemployment was rising ? Of course they would do they deserve some of the credit for increased job creation
