Jobs for Shannon thanks to Utah-based company

Zagg, which manufactures accessories for electronic items, is expected to create up to 300 jobs in the Co Clare town between this year and 2014.

AN AMERICAN FIRM is expected to create around 300 jobs between 2011 and 2014.

Zagg, which is based in Utah, said it will officially announce plans to open a manufacturing facility in Shannon in Co Clare in mid-April, Silicon Republic reports.

The company manufactures accessories for electronic products, such as headsets for mobile phones, MP3 player cases, and personalised items.

It recently moved into a 30,000 sq-foot base in the Shannon Industrial Estate.

It is expected to create 140 jobs by the end of this year and a further 160 jobs by the year 2014.
