5 brilliant events for young kids around the country this bank holiday weekend

The *real* start of summer is here – and this is what’s on for your little ones.

ANOTHER BANK HOLIDAY weekend is fast approaching and along with it comes with the million euro question: “What will we do?”

Fear not, however, as we’ve rounded up five events around the country that will keep the little ones (and you) entertained.

CORK 

Cork Harbour Festival: Running from June 1 – 9, Cork Harbour Festival is a celebration of Ireland’s maritime heritage, with plenty of family-friendly events taking place including a circus workshopfamily orienteering and art workshops.

CARLOW

Summer Party at Duckett’s Grove: With events including a teddy bears’ picnic, an adventure train, puppet shows and a fairy trail, the whole family will be kept entertained at the summer party at Duckett’s Grove. There will be face painting and live music, too.

Suits: all ages. When: June 2. Where: Duckett’s Grove House, Co Carlow. Costs: €5 per adult, €10 per child. Find out more information here.

DUBLIN 

Bloom: Now in its 13th year, Bloom returns to the Phoenix Park this Bank Holiday weekend. Kids go free, and there are plenty of events for children of all ages including how to make your own fairy garden, toddler play areas and a conservation zone.

MAYO 

Pirate Adventure Park at Westport House: If you’re looking for a jam-packed day out, Westport House’s Pirate Adventure Park should do the trick. There’s a mini ferris wheel, disc golf, amusement rides, pedalo boats and a miniature railway. There’s also a playground, indoor soft play area, picnic sites and more.

Fairy Tales and Friends Day at Wells House & Gardens: Head along to Wells House & Gardens for a magic-filled day with fairy trails, a fairy hunt, face painting, a kids’ disco and more.

Suits: anyone who believes in fairies. When: June 2. Where: Wells House & Gardens, Ballyedmond, Gorey, Co Wexford. Costs: €10 entry per car. Find out more information here.
