TWO PEOPLE WERE rescued from Lough Derg today suffering from hypothermia after getting into trouble while out kayaking.
The Coast Guard received a call at around 2.30pm from a member of the public saying that someone was in the water near Holy Island in the lough.
When the Coast Guard arrived, they found two people in the water. The were recovered from the water but were hypothermic.
They were taken by helicopter to Limerick Hospital, landing there at 3.49pm.
Why when it’s out in this area it’s ‘west dublin’ and if it’s at all on the northside it’s ‘north dublin’.
This incident happened in south dublin.

Simple practical solution…immediate curfew from dusk for anyone under 18 years or age. If your caught, your legal guardian or parent gets fined 1000 Euro that is donated to front line staff to recognise the great work they do.
@Aengus O Connor: Splendid idea. I wish it would work but I’m afraid there’s little chance if that. In fairness theses are the minority. Lots of youngsters putting their shoulder to the wheel and helping out from what I see but there are always the brats who do otherwise …shameful little runts.

Honestly though, can’t think of any I knew as a teenager who used to act like this who I’d want to be friends with these days. They’re just a bit less obvious about their destructive violence and lack of empathy or respect for those around them.

@Over the top: they could be vulnerable, their immune systems might be weak due to drug abuse… or malnourishment, you just do not know… the harder your immune system fights the virus the more your body produces white blood cells to counter act the virus, , when your organs have too much white blood cells such as the lungs with this virus, the more weaker the lungs become, and if your lungs cant produce oxygen to the rest of your body organ failure can occur, sceptic shock etc that’s why we need to make sure we can do our bed to stop the spread of this virus because if the HSE runs out of ventilators for patients lots of people will die. .
That’s why we need to people to act responsibly and follow the guidelines because anyone of us or a loved one may need a ventilator very soon…

@Deirdre Meredith: the parents either can’t or don’t care. Mental health issues, addiction, or fear. I’ve a neighbour who gets into arguments with her son pretty much daily, she’s tiny and he’s a tall enough lad, I’ve seen him threaten her with a hammer. Guards don’t really do anything.

To the best of my knowledge the river Liffey separates North Dublin from South Dublin. West Dublin hasn’t really geographically been defined. So what is West Dublin consists of the part of the city in the western areas of both North and South Dublin.
