Man charged with murder of 41-year-old in suburban Dublin estate

41-year-old Kevin Molloy was found dead in his Ashtown home on Dublin’s northside in February of this year.

A MAN IN his 20s has been charged with the murder of Kevin Molloy in Dublin earlier this year.

41-year-old Molloy was found dead in his home on the Glendhu Road, Ashtown on the city’s northside on 1 February.

Gardaí at Cabra have now charged the 22-year-old man in question with Molloy’s murder.

The man was arrested in the Dublin area this morning and was due to appear before the District Court at the Criminal Courts of Justice this afternoon.

He remains in Garda custody.

It’s understood that Molloy had lain dead for at least a week before his body was found on 1 February.

He had suffered head injuries of such severity that gardaí could only identify his body using DNA evidence.

It was reported at the time that Molloy was a quiet man who once ran his own business but had fallen on hard times. His father Bartley told his funeral in Killester in February that he hadn’t deserved to die in the circumstances that he did.
