Child's play: 6 fun kids' bedroom accessories that will create a little magic

Let your inner child go wild.

THE GREAT THING about decorating a kid’s room is that it gives us the freedom to use our imaginations. If you’re brave enough, get the little ones in on the design process too.

From slides to decorative lights, this week, we’ve scoured Instagram for six easy-to-install ideas that kids of all ages are sure to enjoy.

1. Swing it: If space allows and it’s safe to do so, incorporating a swing is one way to instantly add an element of fun. We love @homeofchelle’s cushioned one that’s in keeping with the pink theme and the perfect alternative if the playground is out of bounds on a rainy day. Find a range of indoor swings on Etsy.

2. Wigwam wonder: A teepee will transport your little one to another place in time and is sure to be a hit at the next sleepover. The folks at @fun_with_mum take this one step further, repeating motifs onto the cushions, wall and lampshade. Find various tent and teepee styles at Smyths.

3. Slide and seek: Sliding their way into each morning guarantees a good start to any kid’s day. Be inspired by @rooomy.co.uk and go all out with a cute study area nestled underneath the bed, perhaps making homework a little more enticing. Find bunks with slides on Easyfurniture.ie.

4. Off the wall: Encourage art and creativity with a blackboard wall that covers a generous amount of space like @littlebellelight does. It will give the kids some freedom and hopefully protect any freshly painted walls from someone with a creative streak. Find blackboard paint at Woodies.

5. Mural magic: Any visual theme can be achieved quickly if you can find the right wall decal. Keep it simple like @raveinteriordesign, who opted for an abstract series of shapes across one feature wall. Check out wallstickersforkids.ie for a huge range in all shapes and sizes.

6. Mighty lighting: A light show is one way to combine bedtime with wonder while encouraging more sleep. The team at @yumibabyshop have introduced a new pal with this light that promises the moon and stars. We love this similar plush lamb option from Mothercare.
