Two men to face court after shotgun fired during car chase with gardaí

The three men were apprehended in Newbridge, an hour after the incident in Monasterevin.

Updated: 8.30am

TWO MEN ARE due in court this morning charged in relation to an incident in which a shotgun was fired after gardaí gave chase to three men in a car.

At around 9.30pm on Monday, gardaí spotted a black Audi estate with a partial 151 G registration driving at speed through Monasterevin towards the Kildare Road.

Gardaí followed the car to a location known locally as Ashgrove, and the car then stopped on the road at Larch Hill.

A male passenger in the front seat got out with what is believed to be a shotgun in his hand and fired once. No one was injured in the incident.

Armed garda units were made aware of what was going on and, at 10.30pm, a silver Hyundai was pulled over at Pollardstown in Newbridge.
