Man in 70s killed in Kilkenny road crash

A man in his 30s who was driving the other car sustained minor injuries.

A MAN HAS died after a road crash in Co Kilkenny yesterday evening.

The crash between two cars occurred on the N24 at Piltown at 7.30pm. The driver of one car, a man in his mid 70s, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford.

The second driver, who was in his early 30s, received minor injuries in the collision.

The scene this morning is preserved for a forensic collision investigation and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information, particularly those on the N24 between 7.15pm and 7.30pm to contact them at Thomastown garda station on 056 7754150, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any garda station.
