Man armed with knife forces evacuation of Kilkenny garda station

The station was closed for just over an hour yesterday evening.

GARDAÍ IN KILKENNY were yesterday forced to evacuate the station after a man entered with a knife.

The man in his 40s came into the station at 6.30pm yesterday evening.

Members of the public were evacuated from the building and the station was closed.

A cordon was put in place and trained negotiators and members of the regional support unit were called in to assist.

A spokesperson said the incident was “successfully and safely resolved” at 8pm.

No one was injured and no arrests were made.
