Here's the average price of a home in Kilkenny in 2018

The latest analysis from Daft.ie.

THE AVERAGE ASKING price of a home in Kilkenny city is just under €225,000, according to the latest data.

Analysis by Daft.ie of list prices across all properties in the last three months of 2017 puts the average at €224,813.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this means buying in the city is significantly more expensive than the rest of the county. Average prices elsewhere in Co Kilkenny range between €180,000 and €205,000.

Prices in Kilkenny are also notably higher than in other centres in the south-east. The average price in Carlow is €173,000, while in New Ross the figure is €149,000 and in Waterford it is €158,000.

The cost of a home in Kilkenny has risen steeply in the last six years. Average prices hit a low of €131,000 in 2012 and have climbed by 71 per cent since then – significantly above the average increase nationwide.

However, there is still a way to go before they reach their Celtic Tiger peak of €314,000, as was the case back in 2006.
