American woman in hospital after being attacked and robbed in Dalkey this morning

It’s believed two men were involved in the incident.

A YOUNG WOMAN who was attacked and robbed on the Killiney Road in Dalkey early this morning is being treated for her injuries in hospital.

It’s understood the 22-year-old is an American tourist who was walking to a bus with two other women at the time.

Her handbag was stolen in the attack which happened at around 5.30 this morning.

It’s believed two men were involved, one of the men is described as being of average height and build and was wearing a white hoody.

Stephanie O’Connor, who lives on Killiney Road, told TheJournal.ie that she woke to the sound of a woman screaming for help.

“I looked out the window and I could see her frantically running by. I saw a car with bags on the ground and I initially thought she was being kidnapped.”

O’Connor said she ran outside and found three American girls who were all hysterical.

One of the girls had a bloody face, especially around her mouth, I think she had broken teeth.

Gardaí told this website that the woman was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital to receive treatment for her injuries.

O’Connor said the bag that was robbed contained the passports belonging to the three women who were due to catch a flight back to the US this morning.

The girls were walking from the Fitzpatrick Hotel to get a bus to the airport when they were robbed.

Investigations are ongoing and gardaí at Dun Laoghaire are appealing for information.
