Gardaí investigating death of teenager after being struck by car on Clare road

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING after a teenage boy died after being struck by a car early this morning in Co Clare.

The accident happened at Burrane, near Killimer, in the Munster county.

“A boy, aged in his mid-teens, was struck by a car at 6.30am this morning,” a Garda spokesperson said this evening.

Medical assistance was given but death was pronounced at the scene.

The road has been closed pending a inspection by collision investigators.

A post mortem is expected to be carried out on the boy’s body in the coming days to assist in establishing the cause of death.
