Watch the moment a nervous student got the Leaving Cert points she needed

Be warned: there is screaming.

Video TheJournal.ie / YouTube

A LOT OF students were nervous yesterday as the Leaving Cert results came out.

Mary Theresa Glendon from Clonmel in Tipperary was probably among the most nervous. In fact, she was so nervous that she couldn’t open her results.

So it was left to Mary Theresa’s mam to slide the results under the door. The Tipperary student was hoping to study nursing in Kingston College in London next year and couldn’t cope with not knowing if she had done well enough.

In case you can’t watch the video, this should give you a clue as to how she got on:

Mary Theresa

Even the plant in the video has significance. The family had named it Kingston after Mary Theresa’s prospective college. However, it had started to wilt early in the summer, before hitting a growth spurt in the run-up to yesterday’s results.

Mary Theresa’s brother William was on hand to capture the moment and says that as soon as he posted the video, he barricaded himself in his room for fear of his sister’s reaction, but says that she now sees the funny side.

Fair play, and best of luck in London.

Thanks to William Glendon for sending the video to us.
