Gibson-Park bags hat-trick as Leinster book La Rochelle rematch in quarter-finals

The rivals will clash again at the Aviva Stadium next weekend (details TBC).

JAMISON GIBSON-PARK SCORED a first-half hat-trick as Leinster saw off the challenge of Leicester Tigers at the Aviva Stadium to book a Champions Cup quarter-final with nemeses La Rochelle at the same venue next weekend.

Robbie Henshaw and Jack Conan added further tries in the second half as Leinster ultimately proved far too strong for a spirited Leicester outfit, who scored three tries of their own through Handre Pollard, James Cronin and Charlie Clare.

Indeed, Tigers took an early 7-0 lead through Pollard — who converted his own try — before Gibson-Park took over the first half with a blistering individual display.

Tigers pegged the half-time deficit back to seven through Cronin’s maul score in the third quarter but an intercept try by Henshaw and an insurance score by Conan put Leo Cullen’s side out of sight before Clare capitalised on a botched Leinster lineout to add some consolation for the visitors late on.
