Elderly man dies after being struck by jeep in Leitrim

The man in his 80s was hit by the car this morning.

AN ELDERLY MAN has died in Leitrim after being struck by a jeep this morning.

Gardaí say the man in his 80s was struck by a 4×4 jeep at the junction of Glebe Street and Main Street in Mohill at 10.45am.

He was taken by ambulance to Mullingar Hospital where he later passed away. The occupants of the jeep were not injured.

The scene of the incident is preserved for a forensic collision examination and traffic diversions are in place. The local coroner has been notified.
