Fancy a Late Date with Leo? He's presenting a show on RTÉ over Christmas

Varadkar says he’s just ‘filling a gap’ in the schedule.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING for something to curl up to over Christmas, Leo Varadkar on the wireless might be just the turkey antidote you’re looking for.

The Minister for Social Protection will be diving into his personal playlist as he presents an episode of the Late Date radio programme over the Christmas break.

The show is aired on RTÉ Radio One between 11.25pm-2am on weekday nights and is usually presented by Cathal Murray.

Over Christmas though the mic is opened up with Joe Brolly and Deirdre O’Kane also getting a shot at presenting duties.

A spokesperson for RTÉ said that the dates haven’t been finalised yet but that Varadkar’s show is being pencilled in for 27 December.

The spokesperson also said that Varadkar’s appearance on the show is voluntary.

The minister also appeared on RTÉ radio earlier this afternoon to speak about his brief, at the end of the interview with Kathryn Thomas he was asked about his upcoming moonlighting in Montrose.

Varadkar said he hasn’t decided on his musical selections yet.

“I haven’t worked out all the details yet Kathryn but I’m going fill a gap during your Christmas schedule. I’m looking forward to it, I always like to branch out,” he said.
