Boy (14) dies following freak railings accident

Leon Connon was being treated for serious head injuries at Cork University Hospital.

A 14-YEAR-OLD BOY has died following a freak accident  in which he became stuck in railings.

Leon Connon, from Kinsale in Co Cork, was playing with friends when his head became stuck in railings on Saturday evening.

It is believed he was resting on the railings after feeling ill, and collapsed.

The assistance of emergency services was required to free him.

He was rushed to Cork University Hospital where he was undergoing treatment for serious head injuries.

Gardaí are treating the incident as an accident.

Funeral arrangements to be announced later today.
