Letter bomb found in Co Down post box

The viable device, capable of causing death or serious injury, was found in the Dundrum Road area of Clough, Co Down.

A VIABLE DEVICE, capable of causing death or serious injury, was found inside a post box last night in the Dundrum Road area of Clough, Co Down.

PSNI sealed off the area surrounding the post box and army technical officers were called, after they received a report of a man acting suspiciously in the area at around 9pm.

Examinations were carried out on the device and it was made safe and taken away for forensic examination.

PSNI Detectives are asking anyone who noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area or who has any information to contact them at North Queen Street. If someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0044 800 555 111.
