A HOUSE IN Tipperary was badly damaged today when it was hit by a bolt of lightning.

The incident happened at around lunchtime near the village of Ardfinnan.

Neil Proven, the home owner, told TheJournal.ie that he was in the house at the time when he heard a “loud bang from upstairs and then tiles started falling from the roof”.

The lightning also made holes in the concrete wall and sockets inside the home were blown out of the walls.

“It was unexpected because there was no rain at the time, only overcast skies,” he added.
